ECOWAS Fashion Week celebrates Africa’s Designers who strive to portray the continent to the world in a unique colorful mode.

African Fabrics are cutting across the globe and the trendy, either young or old are tapping into the rich culture of African contemporary designs.

Objectives of Ecowas Fashion Week

To revive the African culture through fashion
To promote the dignity of womanhood.
To open new windows of business opportunities.
To encourage indigenous fashion designers.
To redefine fashion shows by showcasing other fashion accessories.
Encouraging the exportation of local designs in the region

Africa is about to be hit by an epoch-making fashion event if what we are hearing is anything to go by. According to reliable sources, plans for ECOWAS Fashion Week is currently in the pipeline and the event will not only benefit ECOWAS countries, but the continent as well.

Founded in 1975 with its head office in Abuja, Nigeria, The Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional group that comprised fifteen countries, namely: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.

Guinea and Niger Republic are currently suspended members of ECOWAS. Guinea is suspended because of the 2008 coup d’état, while Niger has been suspended because of the 2009 coup d’état.
